View Full Version : H4 bulbs, advice needed
Ive changed the headlight bulbs the other day (non supra) but when ive put the lights on at night im blinding all the bus drivers and truck drivers and im not lighting up the road. These bulbs are H4 bulbs, they were the same as i took out but i cant seem to get them at the right angle. There is supposed to be only one way that they will go into the holders but im finding multiple ways. If you are familier with these bulbs maybe you can tell me which way they go round. Inside the bulb there is a filiment with a shade. Im guessing this is supposed to point downwards to light up the ground but this isnt working for me.
Anyone know H4 bulbs?

sound like you have them upside down, they only fit in the slots one way

There are three tabs , one large and 2 small, the large should be facing stright up on *most* cars

if they are fitted incorrectly they will not work properly in conjunction with the reflector and john has told you the correct way on most cars, if they don't go in that way up then the reflector will be different to counter the different light patterns. are both lights dazzling people or is it just one?, because most headlight adjustments are a bit flimsy and it can be adjusted by mistake if you push on it too hard. with most it is just a screw passing through a nylon captive nut.
Yep, you were right. It works with the big tab at the top. Loads better now but i think it will be even better when i get hold of the metal clips that hold the bulbs still. The clips wern't there when i changed the bulbs but it looks like they will sit better if i can get hold of the clips.
Thanksfor that Jon and Killa!

With out the clips the blubs will bounce around and you'll never get the pattern right plus the blubs wil fail very soon
