There used to be a US website showing twins on a Mk3, can't find it anymore though.
I've looked into this and with a little work and bout £300 (new) you could probs fit 2 of Hella's smallest - main and main/dip/side whatever - into a custom enclosure in the Mk3 housing. Would also mean that the lights don't pop-up as far but then u face looking like the front end of a Bimmer 8 series - lol
yep.. im afraid its custom only.. no-one makes them
I knew i had come across it somewhere on the net:

$300 plus shipping from the US

silly question but wont the lenses be the wrong angle for uk roads ?

uumm good point, but if you can live with that, it would only come into play at MOT time. (yes before someone says, it's a little inconsiderate for oncoming driver) :) :p

There are other drivers on the streets?!?!?!? ;) :)

That's the one I remember it from, just couldn't find the addy. However, as stated, u can get (I think they are 70mm round Hellas so space will be darn tight) UK versions of those - either std or H.I.D. units (for H.I.D. see £200+ per light unit + ballast, wiring etc!!!) so best option is the standard ones plus a custom backplate.
Again, just my 2c
Might be a bit late here in the post, but currious if anyone knows of any clear or plexi inserts to replace the stock flip lights. Similar to the miata conversions. I have just started work on my 1997.
Thanks
Your putting flip lights one a MKIV???
HAHA ... sorry people ... my head was else where it's a 1987 MKIII, my mistake!
No worries, welcome by the way :action-sm

Flip-up lights would be wasted on a Mk4. They're too good for a mk4.
Leave the flip-ups for proper cars :)

Stay on topic please you MKIV hater :p
Trying to remain impartial but it's hard when talking about them huge ugly barges. You know the Citroen C5?? see any similarities?? lol
my uncle has a C5, lol
regarding the conversion, i wonder if I a conversion along the lines of the 8-series lights would be feasible
I am gonna do some photoshop tonight and check out some styles that may fit with the body ... just don't want to re-invent the wheel. I'll post the pics, would not mind getting some user feedback.
i will give u feedback i love seeing photoshops of different designs
ok ... here is a first wack at the photoshop, A little crude, but this is the style that's in my head ... I will try some more later, need to find some photo's - hope you get the idea, oh and that's my car in the snow.
How about this?

Yes that's exactly the look ... thanks! Is there a kit or is that propriety? And how much to get to canada? With the weather here the mechanics on the flip break down quick and wear so I was thinking of someting sealed.
Thanks again.

Isn't it the mounts and not the actual lights that count?

No the the lense has a pattern on it to shape the beem that is projected from it, but iirc by cutting the bit that holds the bulb into the lamp out and turning it, i can't remember whitch way to turn it or how far to turn it, the beem will project corectly and will pass an mot. I know for defenate this works because i've done it a few times on merc 1017 lorrys when i was doing my apprenticeship as the compony bought x mod stuff for the sight and the 1017 were rhd. But it was that long ago i can't remember what exactly to do.

Cool  Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the tutorial ;)
easiest way is put those stick on beam reflectors on for MOT (yes it's legal) & whip them off after (unless you really want to see where the verge is) :)

TBH you loose a lot of light doing that but it would be the easyest way round the problem. or if it's just for the mot stuff the origonal pop up light units back in for the mot ;)

I have fitted a twin headlight conversion now using small hella lights. About 75 mm in diameter. They all have dip and main beam so all four light up on dip. They just plug into the old socket so no wiring mods. Had to cut the plastic surround out to the right shape. Now to set the flip so it doesn't raise so much. does anyone know how the motors work? and how to adjust their height?

does anyone know how the motors work? and how to adjust their height?IIRC, there is just a little riser bar with a nut or two you need to adjust (I researched this when I was gonna go with quad Hella HID units). I believe the motor will compensate for the height decrease (from memory, knock me if I'm wrong)

I really want to do the twin headlight conversion. But it's gotta be legal, and reasonably easy to do.
Anyone bought these?...

Legal?
Easy to fit?

So, who's got the balls to do it first then?
I don't fancy spending a few hundred quid on them only to find out it doesn't work / isn't legal.

Must confess it seems rather a pointless mod to me . . seeing as it will be hidden most of the time. Plus they'll probably make the lighting worse - they're rather tiny single units in the first place . . . and especially if they dip the wrong side!

They don't dip the wrong side, they are a Bandit type motorcycle light Conversion from the UK and i may add a damn site brighter and stronger than the Supra headlights. Plus if you have a sleepy eye kit on you can show em off a little.
On another plus side, the lights don't have to raise so far with these lights in place :happy3: :happy3:

They look great!
And I can imagine they actually work better than the standard lights.
Nice job!

There is a little dial next to each light, is that just to raise or lower the lights manually if they stopped working or do they adjust the hight the lamps open to?
Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question, I am still learning a lot about my Supra.. ;)

It raises and lowers them without power or if one of your motors is kaput
