If you happened to read another one of my threads you may know i was offered a mk3 turbo car for £300.
Today i did the deal and i collect the car tomorrow.
However...........the car im collecting tomorrow was originally bought as a normal every day usage car ( whilst keeping his best supra for low miles )
To cut a long story short.......we drive around to a nearby lock up and inside is a beautiful k reg mk3 auto turbo.
I had a drive in the car and it drives loverly. There may be the start of slight knock with the engine, its very slight though ( the guy says that he was told by his friend there maybe a slight engine knock and had only used the car for low milage and it had not got any worse in 2 years )
Oil pressure is excellent, turbo is excellent and the bodywork is amazing.
Here is the question.......
He says that if you leave the car for several days, maybe a week without starting or driving you get a little blue smoke for a few seconds at start up.
If you drive the car there is no smoke and for the rest of the day or for several days there will be no smoke at start up, and never any smoke once car has been used or warm??
Is that normal??
I drove the car out of the lock up and at start up there was a little blue smoke.
I reved the car hard and got no more smoke.
I drove the car hard and gave it a good run and kickdown and again no smoke??
I turbo hard for 3 or 4 miles watching in the mirror and no smoke.
Stopped the car, examind the car and talked for about half an hour and then started the car again and no smoke.
Anyone know if its normal to get a little smoke first thing in morning ( but not happening every day ) and you can use the car for the rest of the day and no smoke??
Anyone have any suggestions??
He says i can have both supras for £1,000.

thats valve seals..nothing to worry about.. at least not for another couple of years anyway.
As for £1000 for the two cars.. steal of the year. K plates in mint nick go for over £4000 on a good day.

If thats true im an happy bunny
This car supposedly had an imported engine fitted 2 years ago ( and i know the place that fit it, so i can check ) and when he first got the car back he noticed a slight leak on the head gasket ( or so he thought ) and because he had payed a fairly high price ( and originally asked them for new head gasket ) they fitted a new metal gasket free when he returned and complained.
Just like my black j reg supra turbo, at between 2 and 3,000 revs and in neutral there is the slightest knocking noise from the engine, but its so slight most would not even know ( but im getting good at this listening at supra engines :) )
At start up i listened carefully for any knocks and bangs, only the slight rummble for a few seconds untill oil got around everywhere ( my supra turbo does this, and most others i have tried ) and that was after it had not started for weeks, i was the first to start the car today for several weeks.
The main thing is its fast and VERY smooth, i like it

SamanthaI dunno offhand, about £300 i guess. personally i wouldnt bother. Its not a major engine problem.. mines been doing it for two years :D All that happens is that when the engine is sitting overnight/overweek the oil in the head dribbles past the seals and into the bores. It then burns off when you start it up, hence why you get no further smoke afterwards.
If you want to do it though, they can be repaired in situ but its much easier to do it with the head off.

I would not have found about these cars if i had not advertised for some toyota supra alloy wheels.
Talking of which, i was offered some mr2 alloys ( now sold to someone else because i was being indecisive ) but these were 16inch alloys, but the back 2 wheels had tyes MUCH bigger than the front 2. Not the alloys but the tyres, we are talking massive high profile, R16, 235, ???? or something.
Nice alloys though and a bargain at £50 for the 4........but would they of fit on a supra?? The holes for the thread looked very small??
The guy selling them said his mr2 back wheel arch was rubbing on the wall of the tire and had now bought some new alloys anyway.
Anyway, because i know so little about wheels and was indecisive i watched another guy offer £45 and buy them for his celica 4x4 turbo.
But i was more intersted in keeping my cash for those supras.

For that money I guess they were on a MK1 MR2, if so then no they wouldn't have fitted, the 91 on MR2 wheels will though.
right, if youve got the cash have em both, I've been wanting a Turbo manual for ages, apart from my supe being one of the best i looked at, the main reason i whent for it was cos its manual, didn't want an auto but wanted a turbo, I am interested to see what Bryan finds out  about doing the 7mge -gte with manual box :)
Well if you wanna sell the car, let me know

Im thinking about letting one of these supras go ( i cant keep 3 supras )
Probably my j plate auto black turbo.
Not for cash sale, but swaps or px for a targa mk3, i do not mind an older car, as long as its in great condition.
I think ill post a thread in the " for sale " section here.
If anyone is interested, let me know.

I'm still working it all out lol. I've found some interesting stuff on changing 7m-ge - 7m-gte, and a lot of naff information. Bottom line is it's not too hard given all the parts, but some care needed! i won't have it done before Billing, but it will be done for certain. As I work things out i'll post all the info for the 'definitive' guide ...
(pocket resume, manual GE to manual GTE: motor/manifolds/turbo/ecu/loom/power steering reservour(different due to turbo plumbing!) intercooler/afm/downpipe/exhaust/turbo clutch (not N/A clutch! dies within weeks but is same fittings.. all the differences in turbo/N/A fittings quoted are mainly B/S) BUT you can use N/A gearbox/propshaft/diff if not pushing more than 300 bhp... however gearing ratio's will be lower; top speed lower than a stock turbo
(max 140 ish rather than 160 odd) , but accelleration mucho faster due to lower gearing(he he he) , assuming you don't bust something in the drivechain! still sussing out the vacuum plumbing as there seems to be some gotcha's there, but I think it can be worked out! :) :)
Best plan seems to be find a manual crashed/rusted/dead turbo car that can be raided for the bits... i vote for building a stockpile of parts for the club lol, or at least send em all to Nicks for a reasonable exchange rate!
