AC Help

Right, from start to finish, air con inspection, the bloody thing doesn't work and never has done, time to sort it out :yes:

No cold air atall!

Ok, havn't tried much yet but think I have checked all the fuses and they are ok, cant see anything through the sight glass???

single electric fan on rad, doesn't spin up.

urm, everything seems to be intact and complete, no noise from compressor.

no change in rpm when ac is turned on.

thats it, now to help me get it working again

Lots of places do free air-con checks .. just look in your local yellow pages other than that there is nowt you can do as the gas is very nasty stuff and there arnt really any bits you can home service... if it turns out to be the compressor itself PM gtstarga as he has a few kicking about

Probably out of gas.

The electric fans on the rad have a temperature sensor near the rad and only come on when things start getting too hot.

Ok thanks guys, just spoke to someone nearer to me, they are coming out next week to have a look, they will say if it all looks ok and if it's a yes, they will charge the system with gas and dye, I then have to run it for a few weeks, see how it goes, does it work? and does it last! if it stops working, they shine a uv light over the whole system and it will show up any leeks.

He said its a chance to take but most of the supras he has done have not had any problems atall.

cool, £65 + vat for recharge, free checkup.

What happens to the leeks if they find any? Aren't the leeks visible to the naked eye or are these genetically modified to respond to UV light? Are they somehow blocking your AC rad? It is a bit stupid to grow leeks in the engine bay of a Supra, don’t you think? I think my Mum has a recipe for leek soup if you want it.

its a new type of leek that apparanly is deadly to eat, they need really high temparatures to grow, hence why do it in the bay of a supra.

i'll share the leeks around at billing if they find any

Brings to mind a story told to me a few years back by one of my work colleagues:-

One Summer weekend, he and his wife had decided to visit Longleat with their baby son. While they were driving through the wildlife enclosure on the hottest day of the year, in his purple mini with black velvet bonnet and roof, the baby filled its nappy and stank the car out. Then to top it all, a troop of baboons took an interest in the car and started crawling all over it and in full view of the occupants, one of them decided to lay a cable on his velvet bonnet.:flush: Not a happy man! :rant:
