Front brake pads wear indicators?
Does it go away when you press the brake pedal?
If it varies with engine noise it could be bearings on one of the units driven by a fanbelt or it could be a fanbelt slipping.

No this is an engine thing as it does when idleing. Have not driven it.

Just a thought but have you tried removing the pig ... or at least gagging it for a bit ..
Also prehaps if you stopped doing *rude* things to it it might stop squealing ... or just maybe it squeals in fear at your driving :) :duck:

One of the belts slipping? PS belt, Alternator, AC and fan belt, turbo drive belt or lap belt.

It has to be an air leak it is a real high pitched squeal, not like a belt...more like when were a kid and you put a peice of grass between your fingers and blew!!!! that is the sound. If you you don't know what I am on about.... don't worry :)

A piece of hose held to your ear is useful to help isolate what area of the engine a noise is comming from. Hold one end in your ear and pass the other end around the engine. If it gets louder then you are near the source of trhe noise.

Well just checked the plugs and is not the h/g as Ed said to me on the phonr and they seem good (well no1 is and that is near the noise). But trying to find the noise when it keeps stalling is not easy :banghead:

I was speaking to sid (guru off smartgroups) when he vistited about a exhaust manifold leak and he said he had one that 'whistled' through the leak at high revs. he used exactly the same comparison, the blade of grass acting like a trumpet reed.
so i'd guess its a gasket thats gone and making that noise. maybe not your exhaust manifold but it seems to be a pretty common one to leak. i checked the bolts on mine yesterday and one was totally loose. apparently its common that the ones nearer the back of the engine usually work loose..
