wen i first got the supe i noticed that the passenger side would go down happy as larry but would not always go back up. sometimes you had to push it in really hard and it'd work on the passengers door. other times the car needed to be turned off and then turned off again to go up using the pass. door button.

the drivers side takes it down without a prob but wont put it back up. the passengers side motor makes no noise or whining when lowering or raisng the window. the drivers side motor whines loads but has never failed me.

the child lock button seems to have three positions too. 1. allows both modules to lower it. 2. prevents the passengers side module from working at all. 3. can do either of the two depending on the time of the day, the weather, whatever it can be ****d doing etc.

i always put it down when asking someone for a lift without thinking. i always look like a dick when it wont go back up when their in the car.

sounds like burnt contacts in the switch :crybaby: you might be able to take the switch apart to clean them although I have never tried

The passenger switch fault is indeed very common and is down solely to dirty/burnt switch contacts.

The switch can be easily removed from the door trim by prizing off the plastic trim it sits in, you then push in the small tags either side of the switch to free it from the bezel.

This is the tricky bit, to open the switch up! A littlr tip is to do this over a towel as small parts can fall out of the switch, if you have a towel for them to land on they dont bounce half way across the workshop!!

To open up the switch, just push 2 thin bits of flat metal down each side of the back of the switch, you will see the 2 tags that keep it all together, try not to stress it too much as the plastic body breaks quite easily! Once open you will see the contact rockers x2 and the fixed contacts they mate with.

Using a very fine emmery paper gently buff up the contact surfaces, then clip the switch back together again, behold no more winging passengers getting ruffled hair due to lack of window closure!

Trust me its simple, fixed my problem and others, works for many cars out there!

Not closing from the drivers side is prob the same fault its just a little harder to work on that switch, windows not closing from either side, hmm prob a little more serious??
