View Full Version : help
left for work this morning and got about 5 minutes from the house
then came off a roundabout for the cars behind to disapear in white smoke coming from my exhaust
does anyone know what this is
is it the turbo gone or just the oil seals or the head gasket or something else altogether
u sure its white??
if its white smoke and that much sounds like the HG m8...
yep defo just white and loads of it
Head gasket gone then m8... or i seppose a water pipe could have burst and u jsut thought it was coming out of the zort but really it ws hitting the manifold in the engine bay :)..
if the head gasket was gone would there be smoke in the engine bay
not unless u have a hole in your zorst...
if there was also a lot of smoke in the engine bay then it probally a burst pipe.. check the water pipe that goes to the turbo.. had fine go on me once and it did exactly the same thing.. but it was only a tiny hole in the pipe lol..
i just dont want to change the head gasket to find out its something else
well check all your water pipes.. if they all seem fine then its gonna be HG.
ok just checked again and it smells like its burning oil

Mine was same Deano...huge white cloud from rear.....next it will start missing.... BHG.
ok so where is a cheap place to get a head gasket
Nick will prob do it for ya at a godo price hehe
good price well whats a good price then :)
ok most of u said it was the head gasket
so if its the head gasket can someone please explain why oil is coming through the smoke from the exhaust
Have you checked water levels?? are you losing water from the expansion bottle?? is the car mis firing??
When you say oil is coming through the smoke?? what do you mean??
not losing water the car did start mis firing abit after the i put the induction kit on
the smoke that comes out smells like its burning oil
And it's white smoke and not blue??
Hiw much smoke are we talking?? clouds?? puffs?? all the time?? now and then??
yep white smoke
when the car is sitting its fine but when you put the foot down clouds of smoke
If there was that much coolant getting into the combustion chamber, it'd be missing firing like a dog and you'd be losing water.
If it smells of oil, sounds daft, but is it defo white smoke, not bluey/white??
it looks white to me but i have never seen a car with a broken turbo smoke so i couldnt tell u for sure (blue smoke means turbo's gone doesnt it)
Blue smoke is oil burning, so doesn't mean turbo's gone, could be a few things.
i was told that the turbo seals could be away
what other things could it be
i was told that the turbo seals could be away
what other things could it beWell.... rings/bores, valve seals/guides.. usual engine stuff. oil is getting into the combustion via one way or another. you said after you changed the filter? did you oil the filter (K&N?) sure it never did it at all before you changed the filter? didn't go out and do 7500 rpm earlier ? :)
so how do i go about finding the exact problem
no i never oiled the filter
I would start buy topping up all fluid levels to the max mark, run the car as normal but checking the levels daily or two daily to find out what your burning to cause the smoke,if the engine oil is going down faster its engine related :crybaby: if coolant then bhg. :crybaby: try putting the original air filter back on and see if the miss goes
i cant run the car tho cos when i drive it i cant see behind me
would the air filter cause problems
Have you checked your accordian hose is OK and also checked for a boost leak? Any engine codes? Any deposits in the exhaust pipe after driving (oil, water, or both). Can you pressure test the cooling system?
