First i'd like to thank James for taking the time to look at my car :) :)
Right she boosts up to 3 immediately and then slowly continues up to 7 (all readings are x100 mmhg).
Is this normal for a 1jz?
James agreed that with my mods it should be at least 300-330 bhp :)
But at the RR it shows 250bhp :(
He drove and said it was under boosting by loads! But he had no idea what the problem could be!!!!!!!!!!
So i'm passing it on to you lot to help out with the situation!!!!!
My car is running rich but don't think enough to do this much damage!!
Suggestions Welcome, THANKS

I would not be too worried by the lower readout. Mine should have been 300bhp at the wheels also and was no where near it.

I know but James said after driving it that the boost was not right!! And i've lost at least 50-70hp!!! Somewhere!!

Not normal from my experience with them. With an exhaust and filter they should shoot up over the top of the stock gauge. Waste gate problem maybe?

One possibility! Would a boost crontroller bypass this??

I would say that you may have a split pipe on the waste gate or maybe even a sticky wastegate. Boost controller would be an exspensive fix and may not cure the problem.
Doubt it, boost controller plumbs into your actuator hoses so if the gate or actuator are bollixed it just wont do it's job.
One of your actuators may be shot. My spare engine has had a replacement rear actuator. Marty or someone might know a way of testing them?

We had a look for an obvious boost leak and couldn't find any!!
Didn't have time to check wastegate!

Bit of a PITA but you need to remove them and physically check the internal gate operation thats its free, then apply a source to the actuators (airline) and make sure they extent and retract.
Sounds like one or the other is defo bleeding off and not allowing full boost quickly.
Also may be worth doing a boost leak test on the system as a visuall check often wont show any problems

Ok the pipes I have highlighted in are the actuator pipes, cheack them.
The one in yellow are the arms might be an idea to cheak them.
In blue is where the wastegates fit.

Made a special weekend trip to see this :)
The boost doesn't kick in smoothly, it spikes to about 3mmhg then up to 6 stops for a bit, goes to 7 then drops to about 6.8 and stays there. He should be off the guage I would've thought
Engine's smooth as silk and boost is nice but it sure as hell doesn't feel like 12 psi to me. Wastegate looks suspect I agree
Found one boost leak and there may be more, I'd be going for a rolling road to see what's going on and also get the turbos off to take a look at them
Rich - can you post up the pic of that IC to see what the 1J guys think - looked like stock to me but don't know for sure
Good luck with this and I'll pick it up in a fortnight!

I'll get the pic up later!!
And you won't pick it up in 2 weeks! i'll have rang you before then :)
Is the wastegate a big problem and job??
Could it be anything else?
