Can any one tell me the ............
1. flow rate??
2. Litres/Per/Hour or what ever its measured in
for the mkiii auto
Can you get the same ?flowrate? (reworked) as an R33 skyline by have the internals made better/more efficient
I really aint got a clue how to say what i mean but i think thats it :banghead: :banghead:

Its just that a mate of mine got his IC reworked with new/better internals to the original size to keep within the requirements of the rules for his comp off roader :umm: and it had to appear to be the original to do this but has gained a lot from this so was wondering if i could do the same that way less work involved less money cos it only cost him £150  against the $650 wanted for ours
i dont think it would be possible to change the internals of ours.. i mean its just metal pipes and fins stuck togeather lol...
probalyl the best and cheapest option would be the skyline intercooler... or maybe one of those intercoolers from the big 4x4 landrover type things.. thye seem pritty big and go quite cheap on ebay..

Never heard of recoring an IC before but I guess it would be similar to recoring a radiator, ie put more fins and tubes in. I think our IC is probably just too small for serious power gains in this way, it seems more sensible to go for a unit which is bigger AND decently efficient (ie skyline or similar) if you can get one. That's just gut feeling though, couldn't say for sure :D It depends how much this rebuilding process can boost the efficiency of the stock unit. A small highly efficient 500bhp IC costs a lot more than a huge, less efficient 500bhp IC though!
If the unit has end tanks then these can be removed and a new core welded in. As Mike said, ours don't have end tanks. Might be worth talking to the guy who did the recore though, as making new end tanks would not be too a difficult job and he may be able to custom fabricate a new stock-compatible unit. To bring an AMS unit into the country would probably cost around £530.00 with carriage and duty.
It would be more sensible to find a IC core supplier and get the tanks made up, (looks like another new product for TC) :D
