Hello fellow supra owners!
I've currently owned my mk3 turbo for about seven years now and have really enjoyed driving it. It's an auto J plate in graphite grey and is in top condition. It's also got a full de-catted Scorpion 3" system, K&N cone and 17" alloys. Other than that, it's standard.
One problem: Recently the tailgate glass rubber has started letting in water. Any clues how to fix this or is it a case of getting a new seal?
Many thanks,
Tansley.

First off I think is make sure that it's definitely the rubber thats leaking, the back end of supes are littered with holes and potential leaks.
And welcome! Don't forget to check out the calender and see if you can make it to any shows!

Hi and welcome:action-sm
agreed it may not be the rubber seal it can be the 2 trims that run along lid the hatch window from top to bottom, that has a piece of rubber that sticks out this tends to break and fall off, hense allowing water to get in.
if you need good used seals we have some in stock.

Welcome (wave in your random direction)
The suora hatch leak is indeed common, a thread HERE (http://www.mkiiisupra.net/bbs/showthread.php?t=1809&highlight=leaking+rear+hatch) covers most problem spots & is worth a read. We have also been discussing this again recently but, no definative cure exists sadly.
Spoiler mounts & rear window glass spacers seem to be the most common problem. Rubber bung for licence plate lights is also a common one.
Dirty gaskets behind the tail lights can also cause a problem as they stop the water draining away properly which can then work its way past the trunk rubber.
Thanks to the capillary effect even a tiny hole can "suck" in water trouble is because these holes can be so small, dousing them with a jet wash won't find them!
Good luck!

Hi! New my self.
Had a mk III for several years but had no leaks. A squeak from the tailgate, used to drive me nuts, but no leaks.
Had a leak on another car, so shut the wife in the car and used a preasure washer untill she found the leak! Dont know if that would help in your case? But it might be fun to.... Nar! better not go there!!! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, I'll check out the shows and see if we can make it.
Thanks also on the seal issue. Considering the car's age, it's not bad.

The squeak is usually due to the two rubbers (part number when I can find it)perishing at the side of the hatch opening, available from Toyota about £7-£8 each. Screws are a pig to get out though. A squirt of WD-40 or similar on the hinges helps too.
My rear window started to let in water and I noticed that the glass had parted company with the surround in the bottom left hand corner, leaving a nice little gap that water could seep into. Al I suffered though was a misted up rear window as I caught it quite quickly. Managed to just push the trim together again and it has been fine since.
I put it down to the huge weight of the tailgate and the force needed to slam it shut - things are bound to work loose after 17 years.

Thanks again for the advice, I've got one of my mechanic friends looking into a solution.
