View Full Version : Strange ticking noise
I have developed what I can only describe as a ticking noise that happens when I accelerate (from cold) It seems to be coming from the area of the steering column or just forward of it. After about 2 minutes it stops completely!!, as I accelerate the ticking gets faster and stops when I take my foot off. Any ideas.

If its engine bay are forward of steering Colum, id say they exhaust gasket is seeping, and as the mainfold heats up it gets less and less

You should also be able to hear the injectors clicking away, if you have an electronic boost controller you will hear the Solinoid clicking too, easy way to find out, is place your hand in and around the Manifold (not on :ewww: ) and you should feel it blow while you rev from the thottle linkage

You had a fairly loud injector tick Ben?? I've had so many conversations with yourself I forget.
Do you now have the same symptoms as above??

Does this only happen wen on the moove?
Could be the speedo cable or head..?
Thanks guys from the descriptions you've given mine seems to sound most like the the exhaust manifold, it would explain why it stops after its warmed up.
