Hi...I'm after a boot lock which fits into JZA70 Rear Lights...Has anyone got one to sell or knows where I can get one....I bought JZA70 type rear lights for my MA70, not knowing that I'll be needing a different boot lock as well, so i'm stuck..spent quite a bit on the lights and yet cant get them installed without the right lock.

have a look on the american sites, in the for sale adds, or place a wanted add, for a 89+ tailgate lock! they are the same as jdm ones,

Good luck finding one, i have been looking for ages. I have a temporary wire to open the boot it's a real pain.

You could just blank it off like I've done and fit a remote release under the seat

But you managed to fit a pc in the car! :)

Mines just a manual release cable with a convenient red pull knob on it :D. I use them on scissor lifts at work.

I used a boot popper solenoid from ebay to open my boot after doing my jdm conversion, got a switch on the dash which is wired to the popper

I gripfilled a small piece of the UK fog lamp lense to cover the hole in the jdm lights for the original boot lock, looks great

I used a very similar product to this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Wire-Central-Locking-Door-Boot-Motor-POP-Solenoid_W0QQitemZ190192774890QQihZ009QQcategoryZ7 5329QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem mounted behind the rear plastic trim, it is a tight fit but works which is the main thing!

Earth the solenoid anywhere, Run a wire down the side of the vehicle to the a switch mounted in the dash, I mounted mine next to the headlamp washer button. All you need to do then is get a 12v supply from under the steering column put a 5amp fuse before the switch and voila!

I got my switch from maplin, I took a power supply which was only activated at accessory or run, otherwise it might make it easier to break into or accidentally open the boot while getting out etc

How many pins were on the back of the switch?
I guessing two.
Need have a look in maplins next.

PS any pics of the fog light work you did to cover the hole?

would recomend fitting a solinoid release. Not as hard to fit as i thought and much better than a release cable.

better than the std toyota system lol not just a bicylce cable with a nipple to pull we're talkin proper toyota catch down where the fuel catch is.

Yea i have one two, i could not make it work for some reason. Hence doing the solinoid. I bent the levers i pulled so hard.

lol that would mean the wire was trapped or the lock wasn't connected correctly, it's not something that can go wrong really.

yep that what i thought but you can't really wire it up wrong. I made sure the wire was not trapped.

yep a US one. Would not bolt to the seat very well like you said it was for a left hooker.

did you have to wrap the cable up then? as its obviously longer.

I have a kit from a us car. i was going to mount it on the passenger side as it would have been on a lhd car. the tsrm has pictures of how to route the cable

I had a large amount of spare cable behind the boot trims.
