the bit thats missing is most likely machined out to balance it .. however not having a turbo infront of me i can't be sure

They're all like that ben, they grind a bit off the big nut at the front to balance them. Looks in good nick, no scoring of the housing or chips to the blades.

Well thats a relief, I did think it looked a bit dirty tho? And I'm not too sure how much play is allowed?
0.5mm up and down play is normal, this increases as they wear, it becomes a major problem when the blades start rubbing against the inside of the housing. In and out play is always bad news though.

mmmm well I dont think play is that bad then, I may pop up to TC for a visual opinion.
