I've just been dropped home with my Supra on the back of an AA truck.
Took her out for a spin to my parents house (about 17 miles), got there, switched the engine off, 2-3 minutes later steam starts gushing and water pouring out from what looked like under the water pump area.

The AA man came out and checked her out. The Pipes to and from the rad crunched when he squeezed them (so obviously well guncked up) and he flushed the system through with a hose pipe and put it back together.

Started the engine and the water was running through the system and he said it deffinately wasn't BHG as it wasn't pushing the water out of the top of the rad.

The water started p***ing out from underneath again.

The rad cap was well and truly mullered when he took it off and he said that might have meant that the pressure had built up and blown the water pump gasket or somethign like that.

Haven't had a proper look yet as it's dark out there and can't see a thing.

Any ideas anyone???

Sounds likely, last time I saw a problem like that was on a friends MR2 Turbo, it was an inport and the previous owner did not believe in antifreeze, this led to a build up of rust on all the water pipes causing them to crunch when you pinched them. was a nightmare, flushed that engine through so many times but still rust came through blocking stuff up etc.

A slightly blown HG can sometimes do the same thing tho I believe. Slowly filling your water system up with crud causing nasty chemicals to eat away at ya water system..anybody any comments??

Either way dont sound so good, hope its not anything to do with the HG, water pump is nice and easy tho! Prolly want to clean up all them crunchy nut pipes too..

sounds like the same problem i had, turned out to be the bypass hose behind the pump into the block, hard to see without moving power steering fluid resovoir, and an arkward cow to get at when you do move everything

hope this helps

Thanks for your ideas guys. I haven't had chance to have a good look at it yet. I've only taken the water pump off so far, and that was fine.

I will check out the bypass pipe tho as that sounds most promising.

Cheers

Just a note to say that I have sorted this now and its all back together and running again. :)

Thanks for the help guys. It was the bypass pipe in the end, and yes it was a cow of a job to get to lol.

All I need to do know is get the oil leak stopped and stop the engine smoking and then its off to "TC" for Zorst, filter, plugs etc.

Thanks again guys.
