is there a way of changing the valve stem seals without removing the head????

For instance pressurising one cylinder at a time and changing the stem seals that way.

Other than burning oil because of these seals, my engine is running sweet :)

bring piston up to tdc thread nylon rope through plug hole into combustion chamber till its full, should stop valves dropping down, never tried it, so at your own risk. compressed air might work but the valve seal would have to be 100%

Almost not quite!! bring piston up to nearly tdc feed string thru plug hole,
until you cannot get any more in!!then turn to tdc this will compress string against valves and stop them dropping when you remove the collets, but remember to leave a piece of the string poking out !!!! or you cant get it back out of the plug hole!! done it this way once(not on a Supe) and although it works its a pain!! and on one cylinder one valve must have dropped slightly cos me string got stuck between valve and seat!! so i coudnt get it all out!! had to remove collets again and try to fiddle about but it didnt work, so ended up taking the bloody head off anyway :banghead:
by all means try it but i have my doubts
