View Full Version : Should have said hello a while ago
Apologies for not introducing myself to the group sooner! I'm Andy, and I think I'm addicted to my Mk3 Supra! :)
I bought a track-prepared Supra last month, it's a black 1991 non-turbo example, with the interior stripped out except for two bucket seats, an OMP steering wheel and a half roll cage! My intention is to use that as my weekend/track day toy, although it failed a noise test on its first track outing (see my thread in the 7M technical section) and had to sit the day out.
I have since replaced the whole exhaust with a Magnaflow system - the car's been de-cat'd by a previous owner, but I have now put in a large centre box to make sure noise won't be a problem for track days!
I'll take some photos soon, but it's not a particularly tidy example - being a track car, it's got more than its fair share of bumps, dings and bent panels! ;)
In the mean time, here are a couple of pics from the PistonHeads classifieds:

Hello and welcome, thought i say hi even though we already spoke.
so you got your exhaust done then, yeh!, back on track. (excuse the pun)
what track do you use?
Yeap, exhaust completely sorted - a bit more expensive than I had expected, but was completely sold how the guy's previous work (a mate found them and he's 100% with what they did with his Celica). Trying to find a way to hook up the turbo Mongoose system to a N/A car was just too much hassle (and beyond my knowledge)!
It's a complete stainless system, through a large centre box that acts as a very effective silencer, and out to a large back box. Sounds awesome - almost as quiet as my Audi at low revs, with a really deep tone at 4000+rpm! Much quieter than before too - it's actually quite addictive and a real pleasure listening to it whilst I drive (as opposed to needing Bose noise-cancelling headphones with the previous straight-through pipe).
I tend to stick with the tracks and airfields in the south of England - Castle Combe, and several airfield days run by Motorsport Events. I'm planning a day at Silverstone, another one at Brands Hatch, and may travel as far as Donington to see what the fuss is all about! :)

Do me a favour, if or when you go to brands let me know and il pop over, its only 20 mins for me......maybe 25!
Will do mate! :) I have found that track days are always more fun when you take a second driver/passenger/guest along.
