What's the average pressure at cold idle?
normal idle?
normal cruizin?
What type of oil do the general masses use?

Answers on a postcard please, although there isn't a stainless steel exhaust up for grabs! For the best answer! :cheeky:
cheers

Mine sits around the 40 mark on cold start and idle at 1500rpms

Drops to around half of that when warm and up wards when driving

At warm idle and 900rpm it sits just above forst tick

Im running semi-synth 10-40

sounds same as mine. same oil as well.

Mine sits at about the 40 mark when I am travelling between 60 - 70. At idle (800 rpm) it drops back to about 20. Not sure if there is a norm, but the man from Toyota tells me that the oil pressure on these isn't very good - but what do they know!

mine was pretty much the same as everyone elses until it droped to zero at 100mph then the engine made some nasty noises.
cars back this week though with new block :happy3:

 Thanks for that mine's the same (except for the last bit of suprakids - big bang theory, hope it wasn't too costly getting her back together ), thought it was a bit low but sure majority rules :cheeky:

That is what mine does too. The Supra Oil pump is designed for a high volume at low pressure. This is becuase of the oil spray jets that cool the bottom of the pistons. If the pressure is too high you get bad aireation of the oil and start suffering windage losses. I've heard at idle they run about 5 psi (which makes the gauge a liar). I plan to convert my oil pressure gauge into a fuel pressure gauge and run a proper after market oil pressure / temp gauge so I'll have better data for you when this happens.

Nod.

I get that after a Ruby :D

Also gotta remember the basic oil system for the 7m was hacked for the turbo version. it's exactly the same system as the N/A, but the oil jets and turbo feed/return drop the pressure hugely. my n/a runs above the bottom line on tickover when hot (20psi?) and sits above the top line at 3k, somewhere at 65-70psi.. not sure how low pressure/high flow works unless clearances are bigger, which they are not...you can't compress oil, so my feelings on this are that it's simply a compromise in the design. Possibly this is why gte motors are so sensitive to oil levels..
