Hi there. Names Cas. I've had 6 MK2 CelicaSupras, 2 MK3's and currently have a MKIV. I came on here originally looking for a gearbox so I could get a 1UZ-FE V8 into my MKIV (which I found thanks btw to ChrisH!) Anyways I was signed up but couldn't post for a while (also thanks to the mods for sorting that!) I'm into anything with a supra badge and I'm currently looking for another MK2 or 3 supra to play with whilst my MKIV is undergoing its bizarre transformation.

Thought I'd say hi anyhow, I'm an ex-toyota tech and I've had many a supra in bits (some even go back together again) so hopefully I can be as useful to you guys as you have been for me!

welcome...there are a few supra addics on here, i'm one of them :)...i have a 1992 uk turbo (modified)...a 1991 twin turbo limited..and a 1989 GT Limited that i'm rebuilding now..

will you be turbocharging that 1UZ? otherwise you'll only have 250bhp

good luck with it...

6 mk2's? nice... i noly ever had 1 but like them more than the mk3 for some reason. Thres a few others on here that have had them too..

yeah 1UZ into a mk4, weird choice.. but presumably being done just to be different as opposed to performance..

A decatted late 1UZ will make more then 250 HP :)

Welcome to the fold Cas, have fun with your project! I take it you are after a manual Box on the 1UZ?

I helped build one in a mkii supra a bit back (great fun!), and looks like we might have another V8, also in a mkiv in the near future, although we are looking at the feasability of a 3UZ.

Thanks guys!

I bought the MKIV as an N/A auto, converted it to manual using a W58 and just used it (daily drive and drifting for over a year) and then bought a Tatty soarer for £500 as my V8 donor, its a bit of a ballache for the extra hp given that the stock 2J-GE should kick out 220-240, and doing an N/A-T conversion or just putting a 2J-GZE in it would have been more cost effective, but I've seen a load of MKIV supras with blinged 2Js and big single conversions, my cars a bit different and I love the V8 noise and torque (useful for drifting) so pressed ahead with that.
I'm intending to TT the V8 eventually, I'll probaby buy a spare V8 and freshen that up and chuck a couple of CT26's ot T28's on it, as the stock UZ internals can take pretty silly power and are a lot cheaper than a 2JZ if they do go bang.

Adi, the MK2 is more of a drivers car at home on the b-roads, where the MK3 is more luxury GT, but both are cracking cars and I'm surprised that people don't use them more for what I do rather than crappy S13 200sx's that blow up all the time. Last drift day I went to at santa pod there was a GA70 doing a great job of it and there has been an MA70 N/A doing the rounds that a couple of my friends have owned that I have used a few times.

I'll stick some pics up of the MKIV if anyones interested. I got a gearbox off chrisH on here, just after a spare box and a prop now (even though I very much doubt I'll break the box) :D

Was it black with a raised up bonnet? Could have been Mark1G-GTE from here

Hows it going?
I was on driftworks forum only yesterday reading some of your posts about whether anyone can drift or not. Another addict! Iv had my Mk3 since i was 18 and i still seem to be trawling both this site and driftworks 8 or 9 times a day for parts to build my monster! I have very little money as im a fresh out of uni ex student bum, but anything I do have seems to go on my car.
If you have any parts knocking around I will probably snap them up!

get those pictures up too, give me something to look at while I wait for someone to post something.

cheers

Steve, yeah it was Mark, with the most engineered raised bonnet I've ever seen!

Haha yeah driftworks is an institution. My 'build' thread is on there somewhere, but a few pics for all here.

Here ya go:

Ghetto manual conversion using the W58:

Out with the old:

In with the new (ish):

In use with the 2J testing my ghetto manual conversion:

And now it sits with this out and an empty engine bay (the 2J has gone to a freind of mine and its going into his MK2 CelicaSupra (I love MA61's too, I have owned 6 of them)

And the should be going in in the coming months (with the aforementioned R154)

Not got many parts lying around that I don't use, I might have some spare pairs of decent wheels if you are looking at getting into drifting!

I remember smiffie (from TIF) supercharged his 1UZ but scrapped it and tubbied it after only a short period. When talking to him he reckoned the sueprcharged V8 wasnt even on par with the stock 1JZ. After he'd tubbied it, it was a completely different story apparently..

I think a turbo'd 1UZ has got to be pretty much the ultimate toyota engine..
