Hi all, been lurking for a while but time to introduce myself now! I have a 1990 3.0i Turbo that I got fairly cheaply and am looking to fix a few niggly bits on. The only problem I am having is finding cheap insurance even though I'm 33. Any tips on getting cheap classic car insurance so I can actually drive the thing would be appreciated!

I'm from Leicester by the way, don't know if there's many Supralovers round here?

Cheers,

James

You've got A71jay, Nick, Me, Imoyes (although not been on for a while) up the road in Long Eaton you've got Sean and Dino.

Probably more, but these spring to mind

Another to try is `performance direct' they were much more competative than Adrian Flux.

Over in Derby but Supra-less (well, chassis-wise anyway!), footman james can be OK, they bought firebond who were good. Sky is definitely worth a shout though

I just paid £195 with heritage classic insurance. Fully comp no claims not needed. Full breakdown and recovery anywhere in europe and mods declared. That's 3000 mile per year allowance. Good deal i think.

Yes it is . . . . . . if you only do 3000 miles a year!!

I'm with LV (liverpool Victoria) and I get them same as Pat but unlimited mileage, protected NCB, full glass and audio protection, courtesy car if mines involved in an accident, repatriation to the UK for me and my passengers if we're involved in an accident or the car breaks down in mainland Europe.

And after some of the horror stories i've heard here (sorry Stuey) I will go with them again and again, as i have never had any problems with my claims. All for the sum £375 a year (although i'm an old git)

The mileage is adjustable as i expect you know. Only reason i set it that low is my car is usually broken. LOL hopefully if this latest fix works i will up the mileage.

but if you "up" the mileage, does it "up" the premium??

Can I post a serous warning to everybody who is buying a breakdown package with their insurance.

I had the Adrian Flux one all the time I had my white supra and the first year I had my Aero. All that time the breakdown insurance I had paid for would not cover my car/s as both of them were over 15 years old! Not once did they tell me this, and they only owned up after I found a remark about car age in the small (and I mean microscopic) print. Needless to say, my Insurance is elsewhere (Sky) and they were honest from word one and said that the optional breakdown cover would not cover a car the age of ours!

Flux were not even willing to admit that that they had sold me an inappropriate product or offer me the premiums back for that portion of cover.

Check the small print guys and get them to confirm in writing that the breakdown cover will give you protection, a; due to the age of the car and b; due to any modifications and the fact that some of our cars (Mine, Sheilas, Bondies) were not made for the UK market.
