View Full Version : Tyre Sizes
I know the rears are wider on the supra (ive got the mk iv alloys) But im confused over the fronts having more depth (50) as apposed to the rear depth (45)- is this normal?
Cheers

If you have the MKIV wheels yes. Not for the stock MKIII rims.
It's to keep the rolling radius the same.
Cheers Nick
How come the depth on the front is more than the rear though? - that to me would say the front alloys are smaller than the rear?? theres a difference of 5mm or is that how the Supra is set up to have a smaller radius on the rear? :banghead: im confused
cheers

IIRC the sidewall height number, is a percentage of the width figure, so with a wider rear tyre, you need a smaller number so the rolling radius of the front and rears remain the same.
i.e if you had a 265 width, you'd need something like a 35 sidewall height instead.
Hope that makes sense, just done a decent reply then I pressed a button by mistake and it wiped the page
:) he he he i think someones still excited from driving his new toy today lol!
No it does it makes perfect sense now thanks very much Nick
the 45, or 50, is the percentage of the width.
ie, if the tyres are 225's x 50, then the wall should be about 50% of the 225
(112mm or so)
if they were 245's x 45, then that would work out to 110mm or so, so they'd be fairly evenly matched
