went to local garge to get timing checked after removing CPS. Couldnt set the fooker!!!! showeed them what terminals to bridge out, but the sunpro system kept firing the redunants sprark so the light flashed 2 time!!!

How the fook can u get round this problem with a normal timing gun?

I've always undone the timing belt, use a big bar to turn the crank pulley to 0 degrees TDC and then adjusted the CPS to 10 degrees BTDC.

T and TE1 then put the pickup on no.6 plug because you have to remove the coilcover to get at no.1 (both fire at same time)

The factory is 10 degrees BTDC

...my point is the fact that becuase you get the redundant spark reading will u be able to see the marks with a timing list as it fires twice instead of just the once....

If it is a timing gun that has no dial for timing offset adjustment then it matters not that it fires twice as it will be at the same point on the crank pulley each time. If it has a dial turn it to read 0 degree's so that the 720 degree timing constant that the gun uses to calculate relative timing offset from TDC is not in effect. You should then be able to read a true advance value off the timing cover.

Nod.

I know the problem, I experienced that before. But I knew setting the CPS to 10 degs (5 degress physical measurement since cams move 1/2 of crankshaft speed) after the contact while the crank pulley is @ 0 degrees will give me a close enough setting. The car ran alot better, it did me no harm. :)

The CPS moves clock-wise, turning it right advances the base ignition timing, left retards it. The adjustment on the CPS allows you to alter it by 12 degrees either way. Remember that the cams move 1/2 the speed of the crank. If you want ignition on cylinder 1 to be 10 degrees BTDC, you need to adjust the CPS by 5 degrees after the contact point.

E1 and TE1 same as the diagnostic check pins is what we use??

Yeah but You's do it right.. :happy3:
