Is there anyone on here running this system instead of the LEX/550 upgrade?? http://www.fullthrottlespeed.com/ (http://) If so how well does it work, how much did you pay for it and are there any drawbacks?? I have just read a load of threads on supraforums.com about it and they have nothing but praise for it. Would like to know peoples thoughts on it on these boards and how hard it would be to source in the uk.
Cheers
I've been following some MAFT threads. Looks like a good way to go rather than Lexus. Blow-through after the BPV looks the best setup.
I think you can buy the adapter and MAF from their site, can't you?

Had PM'd Nick this info to see if it was worth while offering the complete package i.e. MAFT and 3.5" TB
Defo is the way to go, especially in blow through mode!
with shipping it'd work out close to what nick thinks he can get the lexus afm for any way. am i missing the point?

Less restriction than the AFM. This is good for people with bigger turbos. Simple fuel tuning to a certain degree. Post BOV blow through means no more unmetered air problems. No need to go to 550's until you need to. Lots of options with very few drawbacks.

If u do have 550s (or other size) there is a correction factor thing on it too...of sorts anyways.

If you are trying to get around fuel cut as with the lex afm, then I beleive 550s are good as it has the same effect as the lex mod. but the 550s are not necessary other than that. Thats how I have read it any way.

One slight drawback, it aint plug and play, you do need a WB to set it up..

WB???
WB = Wideband lamda

WB???
Wideband O2, everyone knows the lex is 25% bigger, and the 550's are 25% as well, but with the MAFT there are loads of MAF sensors available that can be used with it from GM's, Nissans, Fords etc etc and they can be used with any size of injector so there is a small degree of tuning required depending on the combination of MAF and Injector being used
thor or nick would be able to do that though wouldnt they? maft as i read it is used to supply more air for the bigger injectors, instead of the afm. yes no?
The lexus AFM can support up to 500 HP, I wouldn't bother with the MAFT mod untill you want way more HP than that.
But I agree that it can tidy up the engine bay with the re-worked intercooler piping.
Hmmmmm 500bhp should be enough  well to start with. :)

I would rather go maft any day and keep 440s...thats just personanlly though. I believe the lex or maft with 550s is a bit of a bodge, you are tricking the ecu into thinking there is less air. the ecu is no longer being used as it was intended. I am know loads of ppl use the stock ecu for bigger power...but wouldn't go past basic power upgrades unless I could use a good piggy back or stand alone ecu.
at least with the maft you get a simple adjustment that the lex route does not offer (as long as a good wide band is used to aid adjustments).

That is called a FCD (fuel cut defencer) all it does is stop the ECU from ever getting the signal to cut fuel. With the MAFT you get a sort of built in SAFC to control fuel a choice of MAF up to 3 5/8" and you can run in blow through mode which means no restriction before the turbo. All this for the price of $329 (£180) but you will need to upgrade your fuel pump and get a AFPR but no need for 550's unless you want more than 400hp and no need for an SAFC. So it will cost you the same or possibly less than the LEX/550 mod, look alot neater sound alot better (in blow through mode) and if your really power mad you can use any injectors up to 1000cc (I think).

But with the MR2 and GT4 you can simply solder in a Diode which basically does the job of a £80 FCD - lucky batsads
