Ritey, had a HKS air filter on the car for ages now, the greem foam mushroom type!

Looks pretty grotty to me, who can tell me the cleaning procedure for these?

What to wash with ie fairy?

What to re-oil with?

I've always done these with the K&N filter service kit. It has cleaning fluid and oil in it. But, to be honest, I'm not sure that that's the right thing to do. Seemed to work though. :)

yep just wash in a bucket with soapy water.. the re-oil with a foam filter oil.. try not to use the K+N type oil as it is too thin for a foam filter.

I know but it's what's on the K&N and it seems to be OK.

i use something called a 'dust retention coating' which i dont think is as bad as the oil based stuff.. its comes out of the can as a foam...

just do a google for 'foam filter oil' and read up on why not to use oil based one... theres loads of products out there too..
