i had to go to the boro 2nite for a media conference the soop was fine on the way down no probs at all
after the conference i got in and fired her up while waiting for other ppl the engine seems to interitently caugh/hesitate
on the A1 coming back home it goes daft at about 50 mph caughing once i hit 70 onwards its ok it was a bit concerning going through road works with a 50 limit and cameras :) i have had that recent problem with a missfire when the weather has been bad  since i replaced the plugs
i bought the correct part number ngks
there was no smoke no warning lights the temp gauge stayed between 1/3 and 1/2 way up and the oil pressure seemed fine to me
when i got home i had a quick listen as it was late when idling the engine would caugh/miss and there would be a pop from the exhaust which has a little hole in the rear silencer and when it does this the rev counter moves down a tiny bit forgive my stupidity is this a missfire or sumthing else? as that was what it was doing when i was in midlesboro i just didnt listen then as i had a carfull
i regularly check for bhg signs  and ive seen none so far
sorry for such a long post but i thought id ask here before i go to a garage that probably know a lot less than some of you guys
thanks for reading :)

How much boost are you running? What plugs are you using. 6s or 7s? With extra boost, I use 7s. Have you checked your leads?

Mine does it Paul, on idle its very lumpyish, runs smooth but misses a beat evry 2 seconds ( not a misfire !!! )

Got the same thing from zorst like a backfire , pop pop bang bang lol

But I know mine is due to the timing, damn I need to get another light. :banghead:

mine was a bit more random than that Dave but it did feel like missing a beat :crybaby: today tho it was constant like a missfire i took it to see a friend who owns a motor factors he reacons it is most likely the leads breaking down so im gettin a new set £37 with discount and an oem oil filter for £6.50 not sure what make of leads tho
i also got a quote for a replacement rear section for the zorst £135 + vat :flush: do i need a 6 cylinder specific timing light for checking the timing?
cheers

fitted my new leads today and it cured the fault the leads are kerr nelson high performance leads, are these any good? they seem ok cant complain for 37 notes the only thing is they are all quite a bit longer than my old ones altough it doesnt seem to matter
when replacing the leads i checked the plugs are they suposed to have black sooty deposits on like as if it is running rich?
