hi al...took this off today to clean it... but i have no idea what to do now its off? spray it with WD? soak it in turps? Whats that funny thing thats sitting on it? (it lives inside the inlet manifold next to the ISCV).

Anyone?

Cheers

Well there's a stepper motor in there which you probably don't want to soak in anything! Make sure you keep that bit dry. The other thingy is a one way valve to stop boost blowing out the ISC when you're on boost.

so what do i do to them? I have a dodgy idle occasionally and everyone says 'you need to clean your ISCV' , so i've took it off and now dont know what to do with it :D

Wouldnt cleaning with WD40 be okay for the stepper motor? After all its safe to use on electrical stuff...

Yeah, just don't dunk the whole thing in a bucket of turps is what I was getting at ;)

It depends on what method the ECU uses to park it, I think in most cases though it should be at fully closed once the ignition is off. Might be wrong there though! See if you can find instructions online for benchtesting it, you have to apply 12V to the different pins in turn and it should move from closed to open.

When you turn the ignition off the ECU winds if fully open. That is why the ECU takes 2 seconds to turn off after shut down and key out. You can seperate the motor unit from the heated body and clear the housing and the valve head with carb cleaner (Wynn's do one and Halford usually stock it it's a purple/blue tin). Leave to soak for about 5 mins and the whole thing will look like new.

Nod.
