      Default Hard to find parts

As above really, I thought it might be worth putting together a list of stuff that people have tried to buy new, that are no longer available. That way, we can perhaps save others some grief from not being able to find a required part, as someone might have some recycled stuff squirrelled away. To start:

      Rear windscreens
One back in daily use and undergoing cosmetic refinement, one soon to re-emerge bigger and stronger than before.

I'm after some of those shocks / struts that hold the boot open. Can't find them anywhere here in Australia. Am hoping they're available in the UK but the forum is a bit quiet on the subject

I thought the bonnet ones were aftermarket! The bonnet stays open fine on mine, like brand new.

The boot ones though, mean I can't have the roof off as it is supposed to clip in the boot but I need two hands. Also, when I'm putting my crate of CDJs in the boot that must weigh 30kgs I really struggle..

well do what the rest of us do with the bonnet - keep a 3ft stick handy to hold it up!
or a 300x10mm piece of trunking that'l clip onto the shiny bit to prevent it falling

Does anyone have a link to this gas strut guy?

I went to an actual shop that fabs up new and modifies old shocks / struts and he looked at my car parked in the car park from the shop reception and said "na mate can't do that one"... He took a look anyway and said they can't do it because there isn't enough space around the base of the strut to "work their magic". If I end up getting them it will be winter!

Just bought some EBC brakes as mine are on their way out.

      Thanks!
Ebay messaged him and he don't have any!

Here's a write up on how to change them: http://gallery.sanitylapse.com/v/sup...stall+5-29-05/

Here's a part number for an after market brand new strut replacement: C95880 from this website: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...7_670811_2819_ but they are USA only.

Found an ozzy company that will make them up for me: http://www.strutsaustralia.com.au/contact.php
They need my old struts to re-use the bracket, they will send them back to me. Cost around $140 he says. So about 90 quid!
